Choose Dallas to Host the 2016 Republican National Convention
Whereas, the last five Republican National Conventions have been held in blue states that ended up supporting the Democrat nominee for President (California, Pennsylvania, New York, Minnesota and Florida);
And Whereas, when our national convention is held in a blue state it has not historically influenced the voters in those states to support our presidential nominee;
And Whereas, Texas is the largest and most influential red state in the United States and leads the nation in job creation and economic growth;
And Whereas, Republican national delegates would prefer to spend their money in a right-to-work, job-creating red state in support of that state’s sound economic policies;
And Whereas, Dallas, Texas, and specifically Senate District 16 is home to our most recent Republican President, George W. Bush, as well as the impressive new George W. Bush Presidential Library;
And Whereas Dallas, Texas is also home to the state-of-the-art American Airlines Center and plenty of hotel rooms within close proximity to the convention site;
Therefore, be it Resolved that the delegates of Senate District 16 request that the RNC Convention Site Selection Committee choose Dallas, Texas, as the host city for the 2016 Republican National Convention.
