The Year of the Donkey?

2013 is starting out as a real doozy. Democrats seem to be on a roll.

Taxes, and More Taxes:
Firstly, Republican leaders caved and agreed to a $1 Trillion tax hike. And not just for the rich.
Taxes have gone up for everyone because of the payroll tax increase and the higher cost of health insurance. In fact, there are at least 13 tax increases  that took effect on January 1, 2013. From the death tax to investment tax to the medical device tax, Americans are going to have less disposable income this year.
And the President isn't finished yet.

Secondly, the debt ceiling has been reached again, and President Obama is considering raising it by executive order, bypassing Congress. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have suggested that the President should act unilaterally, with Minority Leader Pelosi stating, "I've made my view very clear on that subject: I would do it in a second. But I'm not the president of the United States." The debt limit is  set at $16.4 trillion.

2nd Amendment:
Thirdly, VP Joe Biden plans to propose new gun control measures on Tuesday, most likely asking for a a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines along with background checks.
President Obama may enact Biden's recommendations via yet another executive order. According to Biden, "The President is going to act. There are executive orders, executive action that can be taken. We haven't decided what that is yet, but we're compiling it all."
Texas Congressman Steve Stockman is threatening Obama with impeachment if he attempts an executive order on gun control.
Attorney General Greg Abbott promises to fight a restriction of gun shows in Texas if city officials attempt to block the use of taxpayer-funded venues.

Government Default - GOP's fault?
Lastly, in the upcoming debate over the automatic spending cuts in defense and other domestic programs, Republicans will have to use the threat of default and government shutdown as leverage. That never turns out well for the GOP.
Obama has warned that, "Specialists who search for loose nuclear materials will not get their checks," if Republicans don't agree to raise the debt ceiling. Let the fear-mongering begin.

Our elected officials in Congress need to hear from us! Let them know how you feel. Disgusted? Infuriated? Ready to file for office and run against them?

We need our Republicans to LEAD. Remember this simple acronym:

L - Limit government growth
E - Eliminate frivolous spending
A - Advance fiscal responsibility
D - Defend conservative principles
