So McCain wants Lord of the Ring Analogies?

Senator John McCain, our last GOP Nominee for President, recently compared Tea Partiers to "Hobbits," quoting from a Wall Street Journal editorial.  If McCain had read Tolkien's novels or seen the movies, he might have remembered that the Hobbits are heroes who save Middle Earth and the Shire.

The similarities between politicians and LOTR characters are remarkable.  McCain, exactly like the character Saruman in Lord of the Rings, is supposed to be one of the good guys.  Saruman is trusted by Gandalf, but after long conversations with Sauron, he becomes a corrupted wizard who decides that the evil Sauron is going to win, so he might as well switch sides.  If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.  After his betrayal, things don't go well for Saruman, however.  McCain should read the book.  Saruman ends up being stripped of his powers and ultimately killed.

President Obama, or "The One," possesses the One Ring of Power, the "precious" Presidency.  Like Sauron, Obama wants ultimate control. He has thwarted every effort to inject common sense into the debt ceiling debate.

Senator Harry Reid seems to be playing the part of Gollum, who has long conversations with himself, much like Reid at the Senate microphone.  "My Precious," the power to rule, has gone to Reid's head.  Americans overwhelmingly favor the "Cut, Cap & Balance" legislation put forward by the House.  Tea Party Hobbits everywhere should not give up.
