WHEREAS, President George W. Bush has restored honor to the office of the Presidency,
WHEREAS, less than eight months into his presidency, on September 11, 2001, our country suffered the worst attack on our homeland in American history;
WHEREAS, immediately following that attack President George W. Bush declared a Global War on Terror;
WHEREAS, the Global War on Terror is a challenge unlike any war that our nation has ever been called upon to fight;
WHEREAS, President Bush has been unwavering in his determination to defend our country from the continued threat of radical Islam;
WHEREAS, President Bush continues to demonstrate that he places the security of the American people over popularity and poll numbers;
WHEREAS, the President’s leadership has proven to be highly successful in preventing further attacks on our homeland, demonstrating that the best defense is a good offense;
WHEREAS, because of the steady leadership of our President and the stellar service of our Armed Forces, American families continue to enjoy freedom without fear of an imminent attack;
WHEREAS, in January of 2009, after eight years of outstanding and sacrificial service to the country at large, President George W. Bush will once again reside full-time in the Great State of Texas, where he belongs;
RESOLVED, that the Texas Delegation to the 2008 Republican National Convention express their ongoing gratitude to President George W. Bush for his amazing courage, strength, and steadfast leadership during this unprecedented challenge in our nation’s history.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Texas Delegation to the 2008 Republican National Convention, all of whom understand the sacrifice inherent in leaving Texas for even a brief amount of time, look forward to welcoming President George W. Bush back to Texas as a full-time resident, having served his country well.
