This week Barack Obama once again lectured us, this time on what it means to be patriotic. I don’t know about you, but it seems to me that the more we hear from Barack Obama, the more he comes across as a stern father who believes he knows what’s best for us. His attitude is that we need him as our President for our own good. Remember, Obama is the one who refused to wear a flag pin, and then started wearing one occasionally after he came under criticism. Obama is the one who refused to put his hand on his heart during the National Anthem. Obama’s wife is the one who said that for the first time in her adult life, she is finally proud of her country. Obama’s spiritual mentor, Reverend Wright, actually preached the opposite of God bless America. Coming from the perspective of Senator Obama and the Democrat Party (the blame America first crowd) being patriotic means to criticize Americans for everything from using too much gasoline to fighting the global war on terrorism. And this guy is lecturing us on patriotism?
Obama’s condescending attitude towards Americans should be a big red flag for voters. He seems to truly believe that without him, America is doomed. Yet his policies of more taxes and more spending would indeed doom our economy. His attitude that government is the answer to all of our problems would ensure that out-of-control bureaucracies would thrive. He basically is promising everything to everybody, if he is elected. And he very well could have a Democratic Congress to help him deliver on those promises.
Whatever happened to optimism and belief in the American spirit? That is true patriotism. This energy crisis can be solved. We just need to get to work. Senator McCain has put forward a plan to build more nuclear plants and to drill for more oil. True to form, Senator Obama thinks Americans are spoiled and need to use less energy. He lectured Americans for using more resources than other countries. Yet he proposes no real solution other than to tell us that we are selfish for wanting to maintain our current lifestyle. In the Barack Obama worldview, Americans should be ashamed of themselves. Just listen to sermons from his church of twenty years. That’s his brand of patriotism.
John McCain has pledged to veto out of control spending bills, and he has promised to stop earmarks. A President McCain would be a lifesaver if Republicans end up in the minority in Congress, and that is appearing to be a distinct possibility. Senator McCain is wise enough to understand that government cannot solve all of our problems. Whether the issue is spending, taxes, the economy, SCOTUS, or national security, a President McCain would be far superior to a President Obama. Despite his lectures, Barack Obama is not our father, and he doesn’t know best. Let’s make sure that he gets that message loud and clear this November.
